WLoADed: QoE

Our very own Queen of Everything, Stephanie Johnson, finally has her own website for her fabuloso art. She is just the ginchiest, eh? Drop by and check out the wide variety of images she has created for a vast array of occasions and purposes, like this one for the band Bisonics.

I love the way she has made many of my off-hand loopy ideas into stunning images or turned threads of conversation into concepts which in turn fire new ideas in my brain. Wonderful!

WLoADed: Lisa Kannenberg

Here's the fabulous Lisa Kannenberg, former chair of the History and Political Science department at the College of Saint Rose, scholar and labour organiser and lynch pin of the Tuesday salon at Mahar's (AKA the best bar in the world). Lisa is a fabulous mentor to new faculty members and a fine connoisseur of not only beer but of fine foods of the region. She was the one who led me to Capital Q, the very fine BBQ place in Albany as well as telling me of the delights of Bros Tacos. Lisa took me under her wing when I arrived at Saint Rose and I have benefited mightily from her knowledge and wisdom. Hurrah for women who pass on their skills and insight!

Womanly, yes, but they like it, too!

You don't have to be a woman to join WLoAD: all you have to do is support women who drink ale -- and/or are creative! Here we have the Brothers Hamilton, famed of song and story. They're pleased to be seen sporting their WLoAD badges proudly! Hurrah for the men who support us. Get your pins and show your support.

Stella Price

WLoAD welcomes our latest new member, writer/artist Stella Price, here snapped attending Albacon (okay, not the best picture I've taken with my phone). With her sister Audra, Stella writes paranormal romances like the Eververse saga and steamy tales about satyrs, djinn and were-snakes (yeah, baby!). Stella is also an artist and book designer, not to mention a heck of a lot of fun. She's also a whiz at marketing and promotion on a shoestring budget. I learned a lot from her session at Albacon! A catchy slogan and some bumper stickers can do a lot to promote your work!

Welcome!

Kippis! Na zdrowie! Slainte! Cheers! Skål!

The Women's League of Ale Drinkers is happy to see you here! As our fabulous models Angela and Ryane demonstrate, we're all about the celebration of women drinking ale. Note their fabulous WLoAD badges proudly worn in the environs of Mahar's AKA the best bar in the world (or at least in Albany NY). The fabulous image on the badges, designed by our own Stephanie Johnson, celebrates the ale drinking women of the world, who seem to be growing in numbers.

What's that? You're not a woman? You don't drink ale? Well, we're easy going folks here. As long as you support women who do drink ale, you're welcome to wear a WLoAD badge. Because it also says that you support women artists, like the fine folk we link to on this blog.

There will be more to come from the geniuses who founded this group, but for the present all we ask is that you raise a frosty glass and salute the members of WLoAd. Okole maluna!
